Having recently moved offices we needed to change our aging telephone system, and wanted to leverage the most from the Internet connection installed. This was achieved by deploying a Cisco VoIP solution specifically targeted at Small Business which supports up to 48 extensions, coupled with utilising our BT Net Premium Internet connection. This solution could have also been achieved with a dedicated ADSL connection, but we no longer have the overhead of BT line charges associated with traditional PSTN or ISDN connections. All communication within the company uses the BT Net Premium connection, which has dramatically reduced our telephone charge costs.
Features such as voice mail are delivered to individuals mailbox within Microsoft Outlook, and are subsequently delivered to our Windows Mobile enabled mobile telephones.
All employees are now truly mobile and contactable. We can remotely connect to the VoIP network and continue to work normally regardless of location. This enhances the benefits of Microsoft Terminal Services and the concept of home or tele-working.
